Work closely with your team to delegate tasks and create a schedule for deadlines. Communicate with your team frequently and instruct them to inform you when delays are expected. Finally, check in with these tasks daily to assess their progress and make necessary adjustments. 

Manage Your Schedule Effectively

Scheduling is a process that helps you prioritize your tasks and achieve your goals in the time you have available. When done effectively, it helps you determine what you can realistically accomplish, plan accordingly for essential tasks, leave room for unforeseen circumstances, and work toward your goals more effectively.

To manage your schedule more efficiently, set aside some time to write down your schedule. You may want to do this at the start of each week or the beginning of each month. When writing down your schedule, allocate time for specific tasks like checking your email, returning phone calls, meeting with your team, and working on your MITs. It is important to prioritize your most important tasks first and then fit the tasks requiring less attention where possible.

Be prepared for interruptions that may consume your time. To avoid getting backed up, consider scheduling extra time for unexpected events. While unforeseen circumstances can be challenging to predict, planning some open time will allow you to rearrange tasks and address urgent concerns. The more unpredictable your job is, the more reserved time you’ll need.

Be Determined and Disciplined

To be efficient, CIOs must have self-discipline and determination. These two important attributes motivate you to reach your goals, encourage you to persevere with challenging tasks, and enable you to overcome unexpected circumstances. Furthermore, self-discipline and determination allow you to devote your full attention to a job and consistently lead your team.
